Another milestone achieved for Dynniq’s EPIC contract in Ireland
Dynniq are now close to completion of its first EPIC contract in Ireland to support Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) with its Traffic Optimisation Programme in Cork
This project is the first of its kind and includes the Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, CCTV, Variable Message Signs and Traffic Monitoring.
In addition, the outstation equipment is connected to a new communications network over fibre optic which has enabled the integration of the N40 in Cork with the Motorway Operations Control Centre (MOCC) in Dublin.
This marks a major milestone, as it is the first time operators in Dublin have been able to see the traffic conditions in Cork along the N40, covering 160km, and set message signs accordingly. This will allow operators to inform road users in real-time ensuring safer journeys.
The signs can also be automatically updated to reflect traffic flow conditions which are monitored using strategically deployed ANPR cameras on major roads around Cork.
“This is a significant step forward in innovative Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) infrastructure, creating a much safer environment and improving road users experiences every day.”
