Dynniq delivers one of the first EPIC projects for TII in Dunkettle
Why the need for EPIC?
With the aim of providing enhanced road user information and improving road safety in Cork, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) launched its Traffic Optimisation Programme to implement Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) to optimise the surrounding road networks. With various roadside assets such as CCTV, ANPR cameras and Traffic Monitoring Units collecting data, turning that into useable information helps improve the efficiency of the road networks and provides an effective way to communicate with road users.
What is it?
EPIC stands for Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning of all elements relating to a project, allowing us to be a single supplier to deliver bespoke end-to-end solutions for our customers.
How does it work?
We presented EPIC as a solution for Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning of assets, infrastructure and software. We applied our industry-leading expertise in developing, installing and commissioning ITS along routes in Cork, providing the full end-to-end project management whilst also reducing any associated procurement challenges.
With the ability to better utilise and monitor collected data, TII’s Network Operators can now respond in real-time to incidents as well as display critical information on Variable Message Signs. EPIC has helped Network Operators better manage their road networks, improve safety and increase customer satisfaction through better traffic flow.
Where is it being deployed?
This deployment is the first of a wider set of upgrades forming strategic elements of the Dunkettle Interchange, Jack Lynch Tunnel and the future N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy motorway programme.
